League Essentials

Rules at a glance.

Same rules, just easier to scan before or after a match.

  1. League Administration

Questions about league play should be directed to Chris Conrad, PlayTennisLV Director, at conrad@playtennislv.com.

  2. League Entry Fee

League Entry Fee is $30, or $20 for Oakmont Tennis Club members. Court rental costs for indoor or outdoor facilities, including Oakmont, are the responsibility of players.

  3. League Format

Players are placed in divisions by level. Divisions include 6-12 players or teams. The league may run singles and/or doubles divisions based on registration. All matches are self-scheduled for maximum flexibility.

  4. League Schedule

Regular Season runs . Playoffs run . Players are encouraged to schedule matches consistently through the season.

  5. Match Locations

Matches may be played at any mutually agreed location, including Oakmont Tennis Club, Sand Island, public Lehigh Valley courts, private club courts (if both players have access), or indoor facilities.

  6. Match Format

All matches are best 2 of 3 sets with AD scoring, using a 10-point match tiebreak in place of a full third set. Example: 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.

  7. Match Balls

Each player or team brings one new can of balls. After the match, the winner keeps the unopened/new can and the loser keeps the used balls.

  8. Scoring and Reporting

The winner should report the score promptly through the PlayTennisLV website. The director records matches through UTR (Universal Tennis Rating). Standings points are awarded as follows: a match win is 3 points, a straight-set loss is 0 points, and a three-set loss is 1 point. If players or teams are tied for a place, the tie is broken first by the head-to-head matchup; if no head-to-head matchup occurred, the next tiebreak is total games won.

  9. Scheduling Matches

Players are responsible for contacting opponents and arranging time and location. Try to schedule early, communicate promptly, and notify the director if an opponent is unreachable.

  10. Defaults and Withdrawals

If a player cannot or will not complete matches, the director may default matches or remove that player from standings when fairness requires. The director may adjust standings for competitive balance.

  11. Injuries

Injured players should notify opponents and reschedule when possible. If a player cannot continue, the director may remove that player's matches from standings to maintain fairness.

  12. Rules of Play

All matches follow official USTA Rules of Tennis.

  13. Playoffs

Top players/teams advance based on the standings rules above. Men's Singles uses one combined playoff with the top 2 players from Men's Singles I-IV. Other formats are announced based on division size. Primary playoff window is ; finals may extend through .
